Mental Health Day - It's Been Ages

Hello everyone! I hope that all is doing well. I know I haven't been around in awhile. Unfortunately, I sometimes forget that there's life outside of work. I sometimes forget that life does not revolve around the talent agents who seem to think that my world consists only of them. (If they even acknowledge who I am.)

So, I decided that I needed a mental health day. I needed time to reset my priorities and focus on making sure that I stay healthy. I'm glad that I did. I've found that just being out of that environment for a few minutes has helped me to see the whole picture again. I realize why I am that way that I am. More importantly I love myself and I love who I am.

It's been a very relaxing and refreshing day. And, it was absolutely free. No expensive therapists (although I fully believe in therapists). No frou frou make-overs (although I fully believe in being dolled up). Just time kicking back, relaxing and catching up with old friends, with whom I often forget to connect.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm going back to the relaxation therapy but drop a line if you like. I'd love to hear from you.

hg2b

Status: Completed

I have finally finshed all of the projects I have been working on for the past several months. It is with a huge sigh of relief that I post this update. I'm very proud of myself but at the same time I am so tired and ready for a few weeks of a break before I move on to another project. So, I'm throwing an online party. Tell me what you're drinking and I'm making it for you!!

Drink up!

hg2b

In Honor of Our Troops - Thank You!

Independence Day always reminds me of the countless lives that were given so that I can express my pacifistic views freely without censure. While I don't believe in war...I recognize that one of the things I truly despise is the same thing that has granted me a level of liberty that many of my contemporaries are not afforded. For that, I must always support the troops. I must always thank those men and women who fought for their country despite their personal beliefs.

Thank You!</>

Rest In Peace Luther Vandross

Ok, I'm not a big Luther Vandross fan but I still feel a little sad that someone who had an impact on society to have died at such a young age. Some will say it was his time to go. Some may lament that he died too young. I simply say ... go with God.

First Brad and Angelina...Now Eva?

According to a post in downlowchick's journal, Eva stated that she did not wish to be asked any questions during her interview at the Spur's/Piston's NBA Finals Game 2. I was actually watching the game when the interview happened and I remember Michelle Tafoya stating that she was given explicit instructions not to ask Eva about Tony Parker. The interview wasn't even on camera. Michelle Tafoya just reported what she asked and what Eva's response were. (It was they were giving a half time synopsis of their talk with the coaches or something.)

Anyhow, here's a new question of the day...I haven't done one of these in awhile...

What's up with the gag orders that are being issued these days to the media? Are stars taking things a bit too far with giving a list of specific questions that they won't answer? Or, is it about time that the media learn to respect the line of privacy that stars should have? Is it time for the media to "put their manners back in" (as Tom Cruise would say)? Or, is it time for the stars to put their own manners back in? In the age of publicity relationships (and we all know it happens) whose manners are out of whack - the stars', the media's, the public's?

Stealing A Page from Eva

I would so have Brad Pitt's babies. Oh.My.Gosh. I just finished watching Brad's (we're on a first name basis of course) Primetime Live interview and I'm just gushing over his apparent concern and zeal for ending poverty in Africa. He just seems like a really cool and down to earth guy. While I don't know what to think about his disbelief in the concept of happiness, I think he was exceptionally polite and so gracious. I loved it.

It's also quite obvious that he is now somehow involved with Angelina Jolie...nevertheless, what are your thoughts on Brad and his current cause for helping rid Africa (the entire continent) of poverty and helping to empower people through conscious giving?

While I rarely do something like this, I do recommend that if you don't know anything about the huge amount of poverty and overwhelming debt that exists in many African countries that you take the time to find out what is going on and why so many diverse people have come together, despite their divergent viewpoints, to stress the importance of this issue. More information can be found at The One Campaign . And this is definitely the first time I've ever done this, I'd like to commend President Bush on his plan to forgive some of the debt in African countries. News found here. This is a start to helping end the spread of poverty and AIDS in a devastated section of our world.

Questions, Questions, Questions

It's been a common comment that I've seen on lj and even at JCS (back in the good ole days) that JC has found the woman of his dreams but somehow he can't reach her. It seems to be a common thread in many of his ballads including the new clip many of us have heard of him and Santana (which I have to say one more time that I totally adore). I like the whole destiny thing.

Question: So maybe he's found the one but he can't get to her b/c of whatever obstacles (i.e. different worlds, timidity, etc.) are getting in the way...Do you think there's a way for him to reach his destiny girl? Or, is he destined to know who she is but never be able to be with her...kinda like in the movie The Butterfly Effect (sorry for the spoiler), the main character finally realizes that his destiny is to never be with the girl he has loved all his life b/c that's the only way to set her free?

Another question: Do you think that maybe he is trying to spare her the scrutiny of his world?

I love the song....

So, I worked late b/c I was on vacation last week. Just got home to find that the song JC did with Santana was on PromoSquad...thus all over the internet. Can I say that I love the song? I think it's the perfect summer day song. I could just see myself driving down PCH with the top down on my brand new CLK 500 Cabriolet convertible (clearly I am dreaming here...I don't make that much money, yet), with my hair blowing in the wind listening to that song. It's such a great summer song.

But, one question. Why is our boy always singing about not knowing whether or not to open himself up to love? Do you think it is a life theme or just something he finds comfortable to sing about? Just speculating here....

Still love the song though!

Haters Anonymous...

Wow! If I were a boybander I don't know that I could remain quiet about my personal business. Some of the comments from column by Perez Hilton of page666 are beyond obnoxious. They are just obscene.

Begin Rant I had a conversation with some family members while I was back at home visiting and I think the average person doesn't believe that celebrities do anything for society. From a sociological and psychological standpoint, celebrities represent the realization of the American Dream....I've been studying this for a while since I'm hoping to teach about it at some point. It's interesting to see how important celebrities have become in our society and how they will continue to be important in our society. Everyone thinks that this is a new thing but in actuality, humans have been interested in famous/strong/heroic humans since history began. According to Darwinism, it's our nature to see the best of our species perpetuated so that we survive.

Nevertheless, we have reached a new era in which we now are exposed to so much information about celebrities that we speculate about everything about them - from the color of their undergarments to the size of their genitalia. And clearly those comments demonstrate my point. I'm just so appalled that people would say such things about someone that they don't know. Really. How would you know that JC is gay unless you're a man and you've had intimate physical contact with him? Seriously. I'm just so disgusted that people believe they have a right to say such things about someone. Do they stop to think how they would feel if someone were posting such speculation about them on the office cork board for everyone to see? How about if someone took out a billboard on the busiest highway in their area and posted speculations about their intimate details...I can see it now such and such has a small, itty-bitty penis. Or so and so is so dirty that she smells. Would that be appealing to them? I think not. End Rant

Ok. So I watched the Spurs game yesterday. And, I'll admit they only reason I watched was to see if Eva was there. I don't like the Spurs. I am a fan of the Miami Heat only b/c I'm a fan of Shaq...and that is b/c the man is so damn funny. Anyhow, I watched the whole game and noticed that Eva was there...as usual and I began to think.

How can anyone think that Tony is just a beard for the real relationship between JC and Eva. I looked at the girl and I tell you this, I think she's in love...I know. I know. I sound like the idiots from JJB but the look on her face when she noticed that she was having her pic taken did not look like one of glee. In fact, she looked a tad upset to me. I think that's b/c she really cares for Tony and she doesn't want the media all up in their relationship. I know I'm speculating and I shouldn't after what I said...:p oh well, it's my journal and I'll pry if I want to...(ok really bad joke. I'm not a funny gal.) I just think that the JC thing is a bit ridiculous at this point and even the most notorious commenters have stopped posting about it.

Now for the question of the day...do you think that JC could ever quell the sexuality rumors? Do you think that he could ever "convince" folks one way or the other? I don't know the boy so I don't know what his sexual partner preference is...nor do I really care b/c unless he's with me, it ain't my business, but I'm just wondering if he had a sex tape would that stop the rumors?

What are your thoughts?

BTW, this is all general...I don't wanna know intimate details about the man.

The man is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!

I went to see Monster-in Law and it was ok. I have some serious critiques of the movie but that's not the point of this post. I will say that Jane Fonda MADE that movie. Without Ms. Fonda that movie would have been crap. Ok, so back to the beautiful man. Michael Vartan looked good in every single frame of that movie. Dear God. No one should be that beautiful. He has the most engaging eyes and ummmm, wow! The man just exudes serious appeal.

I L-O-V-E brooding men.

The only flaw is he has jacked up teeth, but everyone has to have some type of flaw...There are no perfect people.

Ok, done with the sugary sweet crush talk.
Ok....QOTD...

Ok, so I did have one question since it was brought up in another journal....

I was having a conversation about something with downlowchick and I thought I would ask everyone...It seems that asking questions about JC's personal life is my thing *jesting*

Can JC [or any celebrity for that matter]find a "normal" girl to settle down with? What are the drawbacks if he does find a normal (i.e. non-celebrity) partner? What are the drawbacks of finding a celebrity partner?

Show the boy some love....

Ok, my question of the day was really kinda philosophical....and wayyyyyy to deep for a Friday.

So, this post is all about showing "our boy" JC Chasez some love...It's time to appreciate the man that makes my questions of the day easier to write...So, leave a nice little message for THE MAN JC (for those of you that remember the MF post.)

Disclaimer: I am in no way affliated with JC Chasez or any of his people (management, label, etc.). I'm just trying to put some more positive energy out there for the guy!

I'll start.

Dude you are have a kick-a$$ attitude and your voice is amazing. (how teeny of me.) No, in all seriousness, you have a beautiful instrument and I hope that I can keep hearing that voice for years to come. Keep doing what you do, boy!

Why, Groupies? WHY????

Ok, so I just finished listening to the new Will Smith album. Interesting. I love Will Smith. I really do love the man...in a totally you portray yourself as a great guy sort of way. I don't know the man so I can't really love him...nevertheless, I digress. Ok, so back to the point. He has a song about a girl named Loretta who is just deranged. The girl becomes a homeless drug fiend b/c she believes that she will marry Will. It just makes me think.

What happens that people become groupies? What clicks in their brains (or unclicks for that matter) that makes them debase themselves for just a glimpse of a celebrity? Just why?

So, let's talk about groupies....Anybody ever want to be one, know one, talk to one. I always wondered, what do the groupies get out of it?

Just random thoughts after listening to a poignant song.

Beautiful Women...

Ok, for something a little more personal. Why are women so constantly concerned about beauty. I'm not talking about serious health issues and concerns. I'm talking more about the entire concept of beauty. I wonder how detrimental the beauty issue will ultimately be to our society. We have a multi-billion dollar diet industry and plastic surgery is at an all time high. What happens to the woman that decides not to fit into the prescribed mold of beauty? Is she just a$$ed-out? Will she be alone for the rest of her life because she cannot find a man that thinks she's beautiful (yeah, I know that is kinda impossible, but I'm just thinking aloud here...)? Can a woman stand alone against the standard of beauty and win?

These are just my ramblings from conversations I had today. Whaddaya think?
